There is two part of this paper, Please write them separately, each part should contain about at least 960 words to 1000 words. Please watch TWO ‘auteur’ films (list below). You must complete the viewing those film and readings in order to fully answer the prompt.
Must read all three articles that I uploaded in order to answer the prompt. Use them as your sources, and you can also use other academic sources, but do not use too much, this is not a research paper. Each part should use 2-3 academic sources (include the article I uploaded), the film does not count as sources.

Part 1: Drawing primarily from the readings , please detail the conditions that sparked Formalist AND Realist theory as well as the evolution of thought, intent and impact of both movements from the early 20th century through the 1950’s. What were the political, economic and artistic origins of Formalist and Realist theory? Were commercial Hollywood films a major influence for both, and if so, how? How did other film movements like surrealism contribute to these foundational theories? While this is not a research paper, be sure to cite the author’s work when appropriate.

How is auteurism readily apparent in the two films you watched by the same director? If it is not apparent, please detail why. Lastly, it has been more than half a century since Astruc and Truffaut were writing their influential essays – do you believe modern film, with its massive budgets and increased use of CGI among other changes, would alter their opinions and approach?
