Module 3 RWAS –Each question answer should be at least 100 words in length and type written. You may copy and paste the questions and then type the answers. Chapter 7

1. Similar to the discussion question, briefly explain the reasons that people are poor. This should include a differentiation between individual characteristics and structural features of society. Choose which explanation you feel best explains poverty and explain why. Discuss the pros and cons of each position and the impact it has on how the poor are viewed in society.

Chapter 8

2. Study the impact of genocide either during World War II in Europe or on Native Americans in the United States, or more contemporary genocides found in Armenia, Rwanda, Cambodia, Bosnia, Sudan. See the website provided under Videos and Websites. Study the techniques of genocide and discuss why one group gets to decide that another group is inferior to the point of mass murder.

Chapter 9

3. As pointed out in this chapter, women have been “left out” of most accounts of history. For this project, go online and research contributions that women have made to their fields for which they have not had recognition. You may choose one of the videos or written stories of an important woman in history listed in Videos and Websites in Chapter 9. Make sure to include your reference of this video in your writings. Summarize your findings, then explain why they think women’s contributions were not included in past historical accounts and suggest what can be done to integrate women’s contributions with the traditionally accepted mainstream history of “man.”
